Filipino pride and talent owned the spotlight of the prestigious international stage of GAWAD AMERIKA AWARDS 2022, during the 21st Annual Gawad Amerika Awards in Hollywood California last November 19, 2022.
The Gawad Amerika Awards is annually presented by Gawad Amerika Foundation – a non-profit entity based in California, USA, established by the foundation’s president, Mr. Charles Simbulan, together with the foundation’s executive, Mr. Sam Azurel, to recognize and take pride in the achievements of Filipinos, as well as the Filipino-American individuals, who are outstanding in their chosen fields of interest and profession. The award giving body is also in full commitment in boosting honor in the Filipino heritage by highlighting the Filipino businesses, arts, skills, and talents.
In the field of radio, Gawad Amerika Awards 2022 acknowledges the quality of work and service of V81 Radio by sealing its name in the list of awardees, recognizing the station as the Best Filipino Online Radio Station for this year.
Rally “Papa Gio” Vargas, the founder and CEO of V81 Radio, and Mr. Bernard Kho, partner operator and CEO of V81 Radio Los Angeles both received the award. The two pillars of the station are seeing that the honor given to V81 Radio is the symbol of the radio’s progress and innovation, catering the audiences through quality entertainment and broadcasting.
To recall, V81’s very own Papa Gio, was awarded as the Best Online Radio Personality during the 2021 Gawad Amerika Awards, and now another milestone has been reached by the station with its recent achievement. Those accomplishments are just solid proof of how committed V81 Radio is when it comes to realizing its vision of “being the number 1 digital radio network representing the Filipinos worldwide while servicing global communities”, and attaining its mission of “connecting Filipinos worldwide through innovative digital broadcasting.”
The awards night was hosted by Joey Sarmiento, and witnessed by some of the big names in the media industry such as Yugel Losorata, a veteran journalist-author and the Senior Copy Editor of CNN Philippines.
As Gawad Amerika Awards is holistically lauding the Filipino Pride coming from different industries, and here are the list of other awardees who have established their name in their respective professions.

Gawad Amerika Awards is a strong driving force for Filipinos both abroad and in the Philippines to continuously pursue their art and profession to build and unite Filipino community, and to confidently show to the global stage that Filipino service and quality are the best, like diamonds, their shine are cannot be hidden, to beautiful to be put behind the spotlight.
